I’m crazy about shirt dresses. These are the ones I recommend.

It’s that time of year again: the quest for the ultimate summer dress has officially started. As temperatures FINALLY begin to rise, style seekers are gunning for a great gúna (okay, several) to induce some long overdue wardrobe whimsy.

Keen as we are to unleash our limbs, the de-layering process can be a vulnerable one (goose-bumps, blue tinge, oh my!) which is why a shirt dress makes the perfect transitional piece. Since its 2016 revival, the classic button-up has seen multiple reincarnations including slashed shoulders, Tudor sleeves, tie waists and Flamenco flounce. This summer, expect a welcome return to basics with long sleeves, midi hems and considered prints offering egalitarian ease. The beauty? Its wearability. Layer over jeans and slingbacks with a tailored blazer or parlay a purist approach with a pair of simple sandals.

You see? Summer dressing doesn’t require a serious amount of wardrobe redress, just the right dress. Check out my greatest hits after the jump…
