This Saturday, April 11th, I'll be lacing up my shoes and taking part in A Walk in the Park for Parkinson's — the annual fundraiser for Parkinson's Ireland.
🌷
Parkinson's Ireland is a national charity supporting Ireland's 18,000 people living with Parkinson's, along with their families, friends, and carers.
🌷
As someone with Parkinson's myself, I know first-hand how much their nursing staff, events, and information services mean, not just for the practical help they provide, but for the sense of community they create.
🌷
That's why this walk matters so much to me personally, and why I'd love your support.

🌷 It's (almost) that time of year again: Parkinson

🌷 It's (almost) that time of year again: Parkinson's Awareness Month.

🌷Come April, the Parkinson's community will be raising voices and visibility, awareness and funds, to help support those with PD, their families and carers.

🌷As part of this initiative, Parkinson's Ireland will be hosting its annual fundraising event: A Walk in the Park for Parkinson’s, sponsored by @dovidaireland.

🌷Taking part is simple. Get a gang together. Register your team at Parkinsons.ie and choose from 20 locations around the country from which to take part. When you arrive on the day, you will be given A Walk in the Park t-shirts, plus some tea and biscuits (the most important part!).

🌷Last year, my team of friends and family (The Dopamine Dolls) walked with our local Cork chapter along Sunday's Well and Fitzgerald Park, raising over 2,000 euro.

🌷Event details are below. Come join us for what promises to be an incredible and meaningful day.

Change is a part of life for better or for worse.

Change is a part of life for better or for worse. Sometimes, it brings us moments that shake us to rubble and moments that invite us to rebuild. The choice is ours: to conceal the cracks or let them become a source of light.

Three years ago, I came out of the medical closet and shared my diagnosis of early-onset Parkinson’s disease with the Irish Examiner. That moment marked a shift from something that happened to me to being the change I wanted to see.

This week, I had the great pleasure of being the ieStyle Live Women of Impact keynote speaker. I also guest edited today’s Weekend magazine where I chat with academic, activist, and author, Katriona O’Sullivan (Poor) about the turning points in her life and what it means to “live on the beam”.

Elsewhere in the issue, Gemma Fullam’s interview with disability activist and fashion powerhouse Sinéad Burke explores the importance of universal design, while Esther McCarthy speaks with actor, Colin Farrell about his charity work and the power of community.

As Leonard Cohen reminds us, “There is a crack in everything/That's how the light gets in.”

I've worked as the Irish Examiner's fashion editor since 2008. In that time, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with, and learning from, the paper's most creative and passionate people. Lucky, in fact, doesn't begin to cover it.

This past week has been a career highlight. Being the Women of Impact keynote speaker at ieStyle Live 2025, appearing on The Deirdre O'Shaugnessy Podcast and guest editing Weekend magazine (out today) are opportunities that I don't take for granted.
