Change is a part of life for better or for worse. Change is a part of life for better or for worse. Sometimes, it brings us moments that shake us to rubble and moments that invite us to rebuild. The choice is ours: to conceal the cracks or let them become a source of light. Three years ago, I came out of the medical closet and shared my diagnosis of early-onset Parkinson’s disease with the Irish Examiner. That moment marked a shift from something that happened to me to being the change I wanted to see. This week, I had the great pleasure of being the ieStyle Live Women of Impact keynote speaker. I also guest edited today’s Weekend magazine where I chat with academic, activist, and author, Katriona O’Sullivan (Poor) about the turning points in her life and what it means to “live on the beam”. Elsewhere in the issue, Gemma Fullam’s interview with disability activist and fashion powerhouse Sinéad Burke explores the importance of universal design, while Esther McCarthy speaks with actor, Colin Farrell about his charity work and the power of community.
