What’s In My Wardrobe – Ice-cream Shades

Maybe it’s the 70s child in me, always looking to her older sisters with their Dorothy Hamill centre-parted hair flicks and andro-hippie cool. Perhaps it’s a more ingrained rebellion against the prescriptive levity of the season. In any case, I prefer to channel ice-cream shades in a tailored suit and turtleneck – with an ice-cream and some shades. (See what I did there?)

Being the practical soul that I am, I’ve got a fondness for earthy colours like oxblood which gives pink some grown-up chops. (Extra marks if you can spot my oxblood Lurex socks!)

I’m also sweet on a decent suit, namely due to its ability to divide and conquer and pull the aul switcheroo. Top tip? This beauty from Arket (a sister to H&M, COS, & Other Stories) is wrought from Italian wool hopsack which in layman terms means – no creasing. With the number of train journeys I take on the regular, this makes me do the happy dance. Plus, it’s got the perfect balance between relaxed proportions and a sharp cut which makes it breezy but boss-worthy.

Until the mercury decides to wake up from its slumber, I’ll be pairing mine with a fine-gauge knit. Breezy, perhaps; freezing my arse off, not a fan.

I could continue to wax lyrical, folks, but this lady’s got an ice-cream to finish.
